Bec holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Newcastle, Australia, completed in 2018. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in neurological rehabilitation and community health. Since graduating, she has worked across a range of clinical settings, including major public hospitals and community-based services, with a focus on spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke rehabilitation.
Her passion for improving quality of life through evidence-based care led her to pursue research alongside her clinical work. Currently, Bec is employed as a Research Assistant at the Spinal Cord Injury Research Centre (SCIRC) at NeuRA. She is involved in clinical trials investigating the use of abdominal Functional Electrical Stimulation (AFES) to explore its effects on respiratory function, bowel function, and trunk function in individuals living with a spinal cord injury.
