Join our Team of Leading Researchers

Are you a competitively successful neuroscientist or clinician-researcher with a passion for changing the future of brain health?

Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) is seeking talent with a strong focus on impact and clinical translation to join our mission to improve the lives of people with brain and nervous system disorders.

NeuRA Quest Scholars

This quest for new talent is central to expanding and accelerating our ability to combat the rise in dementia and other brain health disorders. This novel program aims to attract the best and brightest people into strategic research areas and provide them with an enhanced culture of research excellence, career development, leadership and community.

NeuRAQuest Scholars will have a strong commitment to making a difference in the world of brain health, with demonstrated potential for contributing to the social engagement and global impact pillars of the current NeuRA Strategy.

Australia is situated at the epicentre of the global dementia tsunami, with 50% of cases anticipated to be in the Western Pacific Region by 2050. We need to expand our mission with additional talent who can establish cross-cutting collaborations, partner with industry, optimise opportunities across campus and engage with funding bodies, donors and media.

Professor Matthew Kiernan AM, CEO and Institute Director, NeuRA

About us

NeuRA is an independent medical research institute led by Professor Matthew Kiernan AM. NeuRA is affiliated with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and partnered with the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), located on the dynamic and growing Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct.

Our research community is 400+ strong and carries out pioneering work in neurodegeneration and dementia, and complementary areas such as psychotic illness, spinal cord injury, pain, motor vehicle injury, and falls and balance.

Our mission is to transform research discoveries into impactful outcomes. We are leaders in clinical trials and participant recruitment, and operate onsite clinics providing care for people with neurological conditions. We offer dedicated research platforms including the Sydney Brain Bank, imaging (MRI) and Gait Labs.
