The Resilient Minds (ReMind) Study

The study

The Resilient Minds Study (ReMind) is an app-based longitudinal study of cognitive and mental health resilience.

Many of us are faced with a variety of adversities at different stages of our lives. Understanding the many factors that can impact resilience in the face of adversity is important to inform and develop future interventions that promote cognitive health and mental well-being.

What is involved?

We have developed a new research app so you can participate conveniently from your phone by answering questions about your daily life and overall well-being and complete game-like cognitive and physical tasks.

We are seeking people aged 18 years and older to help us learn more about resilience, mental health, and cognition across the lifespan. The study is virtual, and you can join from anywhere in Australia, provided you have an iPhone and ability to connect to the internet.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Adult volunteers living in Australia
  • Between the ages of 18 – 95 years
  • Proficient in English
  • Able to use an iPhone without assistive technology (e.g., having your phone read out text)
  • Current iPhone users and willing to use your iPhone to download a free UNSW research application
  • Able to access to a home Wi-Fi connection for the time of the study
About the Brain Health Study

The Brain Health Study is a sub-study of the Resilient Minds Study and is currently recruiting for participants.

Are you aged 65+ years and concerned about your memory or have been experiencing subtle changes in your thinking skills?

Researchers at UNSW are conducting a study to better understand subjective cognitive changes in adults, and the biological factors that make us resilient to brain and psychological ageing. This study aims to explore what type of changes are experienced, what they mean for individuals, and how to effectively measure them. People who choose to participate will be invited to take part in a long-term study that involves an on-site lab assessment consisting of brain imaging scans, a fasting blood sample, a tear sample, and an eye scan.

This study is suited for the following:

  • Experiencing subtle but persistent changes in your memory or thinking skills
  • Concerned about these changes in your memory or thinking skills

  • Willing to nominate a family member/friend to complete a brief survey about your cognition and everyday functioning
What does the study involve?:

    • Blood Sample Collection
    • MRI Brain Scan
    • Eye Scan and Tear Sample Collection
  • Online survey on Cognition
