Postdoctoral Research Fellow, School of PsychologyDr Htet Lin (Danny) Htun (MBBS, MPH, PhD) is a population health researcher and epidemiologist specialising in cognitive ageing, dementia prevention, and the social determinants of health. He is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UNSW Sydney and a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at Neuroscience Research Australia.
Danny completed his PhD in Epidemiology at Monash University, where he examined whether social determinants of health influence dementia risk and explored the potential of community-based approaches, including social prescribing, to promote healthy ageing. His research combines epidemiology, longitudinal cohort studies, evidence synthesis, and advanced analytical methods to understand factors that influence cognitive health across the life course.
His current research examines cognitive decline, decision-making, dementia risk, and healthy ageing, with a particular focus on how social, behavioural, psychological, and demographic factors influence cognitive outcomes in later life. He is also interested in translating research evidence into policies and interventions that support healthier and more socially connected communities.
His research has contributed to reports and policy documents produced by governments and international organisations, including the World Health Organization. It aims to generate evidence that supports dementia prevention, reduces health inequalities, and improves wellbeing among older adults.
