Chontel Gibson is a Gamilaraay woman, Senior Research Fellow and Co-Lead of the Aboriginal Health & Ageing Program NeuRA. A central focus of her work is honouring and valuing the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In partnership with older Aboriginal people, she co-designed a strengths-based model of care for social and emotional wellbeing, including aged care services. This model is recognised by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous experts as best practice. With extensive experience in Aboriginal health, ageing and wellbeing, Chontel uses her leadership, scholarship and community-driven approach to advance culturally responsive research, education and best-practice models.

In addition, Chontel has been instrumental in co-founding national organisations and networks such as Indigenous Allied Health Australia and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Occupational Therapy Network, with the aim of strengthening Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation and leadership across health, aged care and the higher education sector.
