Are you an older adult who needs help with the aged care system? Or do you help an older adult with the aged care system? Do you wish you had more social contacts or greater social connections? We want to talk to you!
Researchers at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) and University of New South Wales (UNSW) are inviting older adults and/or their informal carers to The Care-Nav Study (i.e., Navigating aged care services for older Australians and their families: the consumer perspective). The study aims to understand how older Australians and their family carers find their aged care services at home.
This study may be suited to you if you are:
Someone receiving/waiting to receive aged care services who meet the following criteria:
- Aged 65 years old or older
- Currently receiving/assessed as eligible to receive the Home Care Packages (HCP) or the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
- Feel a strong need for greater social contacts and connections
- Feel comfortable communicating in English or Mandarin
OR

1. Aged 18 years old or older
2. Provide assistance in finding care at home to an older adult who is receiving/eligible to receive the Home Care Packages (HCP) or the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

What is involved in this research study?
If you decide to take part in the study, we hope to have an interview (30−40 minutes) to talk about your experiences in finding your care at home, and to have you fill out a short survey (10−20 minutes) before the interview.
What are the benefits of this study?
At the end of the interview, you will get a $30 Coles (or similar) gift card as a token of our appreciation for your participation in this research study.
More importantly, your input will help to inform future interventions or policy to optimise navigation of the Australian aged care system from consumer perspective.
This study is being conducted by researchers at UNSW. This study has been approved by UNSW human research ethics committee, reference number: HC210104.
The Care-NAV study is no longer recruiting new participants.
