Yan Li is a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow in the Neurodegeneration group led by Prof. Carolyn Sue. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine in 1984 at Southeast University in China and completed her PhD in 2006 at the University of Sydney.
Immediately prior to joining the Neurodegeneration group at NeuRA, she conducted research at the Human Reproduction Unit, Sydney Centre for Developmental and Regenerative Medicine within the Kolling Institute, Sydney University, focusing on the epigenetic regulation of early embryo development. Her current projects in the neurodegeneration group focus on investigating the mechanism and possible treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
Yan has worked on many NHMRC funded projects, which received continued funding for many rounds, and had acted as the CIB in one NHMRC project from 2011 to 2013.
She received the Ramsay Health Care/PaLMS Australasian travel award in 2003 and in 2008.
Her research image “Fertilization Point” was awarded first price in Micrograph of the Year in research micrograph competition in the University of Sydney in 2008. Another of her images was selected as the cover image for the leading journal “Reproduction” in 2016.
