Neuregulin Dependent Neuronal Migration and Schizophrenia

Genetic and environmental factors combine to increase risk for developing schizophrenia. The key neurobiological events in which risk genes participate during development are not understood. Without this important information, we do not know which pathological events are primary to the disease, nor do we know where to aim therapy. The path to developing therapies to prevent schizophrenia involves research on how risk genes influence brain development and structure.
