Dr Delara Javat graduated with MBBS from James Cook University (JCU) in 2015 with an Academic Medal for Bachelor Coursework and the Whole Time Medical Specialist Prize for the best overall result in MBBS. She subsequently obtained her Honours Research Degree and graduated with First Class in 2016. Publication of her Honours thesis was funded by a JCU Research Capacity Building grant.
Dr Javat undertook her Basic Physician Training with the Royal Australian College of Physicians and passed the Written and Clinical FRACP examinations in her first attempt in 2020 and 2021 respectively. She subsequently commenced Neurology Advanced Training, completing her first year at The Canberra Hospital in 2022 and second year at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in 2023. Dr Javat developed an interest in movement disorders throughout her training and commenced her movement disorders fellowship with Professor Carolyn Sue at Neurosciences Research Australia in 2024. As part of her fellowship, she is involved in clinical research and clinical practice in the Parkinson’s disease clinics.
