Industry Open day 2026 - The Hon David Harris MP
One simple but unifying thread emerged from many of the sessions at NeuRA's Industry Open Day: the power of curiosity.
As researchers and industry partners explored the future of neuroscience innovation, many of our speakers reinforced the point that innovation comes from asking questions.
It began with the NSW Minister for Medical Research, the Hon David Harris MP, suggesting that "before you leave today, make two new friends and swap phone numbers", and included Vinay Prusty, Executive Director - Neuroscience at Eli Lilly and Company, noting that you "can change talent in an individual, but not an attitude... always be open”.
The collaborations that matter most are built on shared curiosity and a genuine desire to solve real-world problems. “Drug development doesn’t happen in isolation.. drug development only happens in a team," said Dr Phillip Fromm, Director, Discovery Biology at Teva Pharmaceuticals.
"The relationships you’re building today, may be the ones you’re still calling on in 20 years," added Professor Bronwyn Fox AO, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) at UNSW Sydney.
As our Industry Open Day illustrated, when researchers and industry come together, the results are transformative as new ideas emerge and barriers are overcome.
